Petten Experiment (WERA)
The movie shows surface current fields measured by the University of Hamburg WERA.
The current speed is encoded in colour, the direction is given by a black arrow. Windspeed and -direction as well as the actual waterlevel are measured near Petten. This data has been supplied by the Dutch Rijkswaterstaat / RIKZ.
The second example shows data from 28th November 1996 01:00 UTC to 28th November 1996 13:30 UTC. During high current velocities to the north, the generation of a coastal jet can be observed more clearly than in the first example.
