The Tsunami at Phuket

The figure shows the tsunami front 1:20 hours after the earthquake when it starts entering the shallower water in front of Thailand. The associated signature in the current field is in the order of 20 cm/s. Note that there is a reduction in waterlevel in front of the tsunami like it has been observed at December 26, 2004. At this moment the tsunami is still 300 km off the shore of Thailand and it takes another 2:30 hours until the tsunami reaches the coast.
